Shanoor has wanted to be a writer since she was four years old. Her interest in politics and global issues came a little later, but has kept her hooked on following the news ever since. She has worked for several social justice not-for-profits at the grassroots level as well as on research and advocacy projects. Her research interests include Politics, Ethnic Conflict, Social Movements and Protest, Resistance, Democracy and Democratization and the Political Economy of Development. She grew up in Mumbai, India and has lived on Vancouver Island, Providence, Paros, Greece and Brooklyn. She is currently freelance writing in Mumbai
